What you'll experience
Spice up your trip to Mostar with a hands-on Bosnian cooking class — easy-to-follow instructions, traditional recipes, and a local instructor walking you through every step.
You’ll learn to make Burek (hand-rolled filo with meat or cheese), Dolma (stuffed peppers in tomato sauce), Japrak (slow-cooked stuffed grape leaves with lamb), and Hurmasice (sweet semolina cakes soaked in syrup). All four made from scratch, with fresh local ingredients.
Bosnian cuisine is rich and varied. Beyond cooking, you’ll get insight into Bosnian culture, traditions, and the stories behind the dishes — what makes Bosnian cooking different from Turkish, Croatian, or Serbian neighbours.
The class runs at Food House Mostar — central, walkable from the Old Town. Arrive by 16:45 for a 17:00 start. Welcome drink, Bosnian meze snacks, and rakija to kick things off.
Then you cook. Around 1.5 hours of hands-on prep, with the instructor guiding the harder steps (filo stretching, grape-leaf rolling). When everything’s ready you sit down to a 3-course lunch and eat what you made — wine, rakija, and unlimited refills included. Wrap by around 20:00.
You go home with a printed recipe booklet and full a stomach.
Group size 2–20. Aprons provided. Bring a camera. Free cancellation up to 24h before.
Itinerary
Make your way to Food House Mostar — the venue where we run the cooking lessons. Class starts at 17:00, please be there by 16:45.
Welcome drink and traditional Bosnian meze snacks, with rakija and wine. Quick introduction to Bosnian cuisine and the dishes you'll be making. Time for questions, plus interesting facts about Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Move into the cooking area and start with the easier dishes you can recreate at home. Bosnian cooking is all about fresh ingredients and unique flavours. You'll prepare Burek (hand-rolled filo with meat or cheese), Dolma (stuffed peppers), Japrak (slow-cooked stuffed grape leaves), and Hurmasice (semolina dessert in syrup).
Time to taste everything. A 3-course Bosnian lunch with the dishes you've prepared, plus dessert, wine, and rakija. Conversation that runs longer than the cooking did.
Take home a printed recipe booklet with all the recipes from the class so you can keep cooking Bosnian food at home.
Comfortable clothes that can get dirty, closed-toe shoes, an appetite. Aprons provided.

This was a highlight of our road trip through Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro. We found Bosnian people to be incredibly warm and welcoming but none more so than Amina and her team. Amina was so kind, funny and knowledgeable which made the experience so enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious and I can't wait to try some of the recipes at home, though I need to find a long stick for my Burek :) This is an absolute must for anyone staying a night in Mostar! Cannot recommend enough!
