FAQ

Common safety questions

Is Bosnia safe to visit?

Yes — Bosnia is one of the safest countries in Europe by every standard metric. Crime rates are lower than most EU capitals. We've hosted travelers from 60+ countries since 2014, including solo female travelers, families with kids, and elderly groups. The war ended 30 years ago.

Are landmines still a concern?

Not on any of our routes. All known affected areas are clearly marked and stay 100% off our itineraries. We only operate on cleared, popular tourist paths. Demining work is ongoing and well-mapped — see the BHMAC official site for details.

Is the water safe to drink?

Tap water across Mostar, Sarajevo, and Herzegovina is safe and high-quality (mostly mountain spring sourced). Most pickup points have shops nearby for bottled water if you prefer.

What's your COVID / illness policy?

If you're sick, please don't come — we'll refund or reschedule with no questions asked, even at last minute. We don't want to spread anything to other guests or our team.

What about solo female travelers?

About 35% of our solo travelers are women. Mostar is very safe for solo female travelers — locals are warm, conservative-respectful, and street harassment is uncommon. We can pair you with a female guide on request.

Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?

Yes, openly. We host LGBTQ+ travelers regularly and our team is fully respectful. Bosnia as a society is more conservative than Western Europe — public displays of affection draw more attention here than in Berlin or London — but our tours are safe spaces, always.

Still have questions?

Ask us anything before you book.

There's no question too small. We'd rather over-explain than have you arrive worried.
