Quick answer
Hand-roll your own burek with a Mostar grandma in 2 hours. Evening session starting at 6 PM. Welcome drink, hands-on dough-stretching, fresh-from-the-oven meal, recipe card to take home. €18 per person. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Confirmation in 60 seconds.
What you'll experience
Burek is the dish every Bosnian grandmother is known for, and the one most travellers don’t realise they can learn in two evening hours.
This class is the short version: one dough, one filling, one oven, one shared meal at the end. No itinerary tricks, no upsells, no buses. You arrive at 6 PM, you stretch dough until it’s translucent, you fill and roll it, it bakes for 20 minutes, you eat what you made. Recipe card on the way out.
We run it from a small kitchen 5 minutes’ walk from Stari Most. Group size capped at 8 so everyone has table room and gets the dough-stretching move taught one-on-one.
Pick meat (the original — minced beef and onion), cheese (the second-most ordered Mostar breakfast), spinach, or potato when you arrive. The hand-rolled filo is what makes burek different from anything you can buy in a supermarket — once you’ve done it, you’ll spot the supermarket fakes anywhere.
Welcome drink, full hands-on instruction, fresh-from-the-oven meal with kajmak and yoghurt, coffee or rakija after, recipe card to take home. €18 per person, 2 hours, evening start at 6 PM.
If you have more time, the full Bosnian Cooking Class is 3 hours from 5 PM and covers four dishes with a 3-course lunch.
Itinerary
Make your way to the kitchen, 5 minutes' walk from Stari Most. Class starts at 18:00 (6 PM) — please be there by 17:50.
Welcome drink (soft or rakija — you pick) and a 5-minute intro to burek: where it comes from, how it's different from börek elsewhere, why hand-stretched filo matters.
Learn the move that takes a small ball of dough and turns it into a paper-thin sheet covering the whole table. Your hands, our flour, our grandma watching closely.
Choose your filling — meat, cheese, spinach, or potato — fill the filo, coil it into the round pan. Into the oven for 20 minutes.
Eat what you made. Served with kajmak (clotted cream) and yoghurt — the way locals have it. Coffee or rakija to finish.
A printed recipe card with the burek method scaled for home kitchens, so you can keep doing it. (Spoiler: most people don't have a saç oven, but a regular oven gets close.)
Comfortable clothes that can get dirty, closed-toe shoes, an appetite. Aprons provided.

All participants were super relaxed, the provider very friendly. Taste maybe not the best burek ever but it was delicious and homemade from therefore highly recommended.

I had an amazing experience in this burek cooking class! The whole process was not only fun but also surprisingly easy to follow. A huge part of that was thanks to our wonderful teacher, Saladana. She explained every step so clearly and patiently that even beginners like me felt confident throughout the class. Saladana has a very warm and encouraging teaching style, which made the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable. She broke everything down into simple steps, making what seemed complicated at first actually very manageable. What an incredible surprise 🙂

We did the burek masterclass yesterday and had a great time. The instructors actually ran the class just for the two of us, which was really generous and made it very relaxed. They were incredibly friendly and patient and shared lots of helpful tips on stretching and working the jufka (dough) so we can recreate it at home. After the class the restaurant baked the burek for us. It turned out delicious and made for a great dinner with a salad and some drinks. They also shared photos, videos and several traditional Bosnian recipes with us afterwards. A really fun and relaxing evening activity to do in Mostar and a great way to learn about traditional Bosnian food.
